Are There Different Categories Of Brain Injuries?

The medical terminology talks about “mild,” “moderate,” and “severe” brain injuries. That is really referring to the neurological testing. The important thing to remember is even in a mild brain injury if you can’t remember left from right, if you can’t remember what a red light or a green light means, if you can’t remember when you’re driving home how to get home, that is a mild brain injury, but it is having very severe effects on your life.  So the medical categorization, “mild,” “moderate,” and “severe,” refer to the extent of cognitive deficits, but it does not reflect the profound effects on a person’s life. So every brain injury, whether it be mild, moderate, severe, is gonna have very, very long lasting effects on that person that suffers the brain injury.
