Top 9 essential things you should do if you are in a Car Accident

What other vehicles were involved, and what were their colors, makes, and models?

It would be advisable if you could write down or record yourself with respect to the incidents of your car accident. The scene after the accident itself could be a very trying and confusing time and, unless you actually record on paper the information you gathered during your initial fact gathering, you might not remember all the incidents regarding your accident.

So what particular information should you write down in your note gathering? Here is a list of important guideline questions that you should ask in order to help you establish your injury claim in the future:

  • Where did the car accident happen?

  • What other vehicles were involved, and what were their colors, make, and model?

  • What respective damages did these cars involved in the accident absorb? Is the damage visible?

  • What were the respective positions of the vehicles to each other, how did they end up where they are presently, and how many cars were actually involved?

  • Which of the vehicles collided into which vehicle first, and did the accident happen on a main road or a side street?

  • What were the weather conditions during the car accident? Did the weather at all contribute to the cause of the accident?

  • Were there adequate traffic signs or traffic lights in the vicinity of the accident that might have prevented or averted the accident from happening or occurring in the first place?

  • What was the condition of the road: was it slippery, or were there any potholes or obstacles that helped contribute to the accident in the first place?

  • Do you remember if any of the cars involved had previous damage to their tires, tail lights, or even breaks? How did the accident damage these vehicles even further?

  • How fast were the respective vehicles going on the road before the accident, and how fast were you driving before the accident took place?

  • How many passengers did each vehicle have, and in the aftermath of the accident, how many of these individuals died, were seriously injured, or trapped in their vehicles?

  • How fast before the authorities arrived on the scene?

  • What were the names, designations, and participations of the police and emergency personnel who helped in the aftermath of the accident?

  • Who are the registered owners of the vehicles involved in the accident?

  • What is the insurance status of the vehicle owners involved?

  • Who are your witnesses and what are their contact numbers?

  • How did your conversations go with the people involved?
